What are ramifications if I stop paying my maint. fees?

I have a right-to use timeshare in St. Maarten I can no longer use it. I have it up for sale, but no offers. The resort doesn't want to take it back. They offered to let me out of lease for $1500, and I told them "no Way". They then dropped the offer to $1000. What happens if I tell them I won't be using my timeshare or sending them any Money ? I have not balance due at this time. The timeshare is paid for and maint. fees aren't due til 2016.

I hate to say it, but, $1000 may be a fair price to get out of the deal. It sounds like they are negotiating. Offer $500 and maybe they will meet in the middle.
